The cross-country race

1,2,3 Bang ! the starting clappers go the race is on. My legs shake like mad. I struggle to get through the crowd of people, trying to get through little gaps… finally the space opens. My first drip of sweat drips down my hairline as i finish my first lap.

On my second lap i feel two more drips of sweat. I say to myself i can do this, it's hard, but i can do it. I struggle to get in lead.

The finish line is in sight. I go around the senior playground with my last drip of sweat which i know is for good luck. Now it is my time to shine... “when she is close to the finish line, that’s when i’ll overtake her.” But i overtake her sooner and win the race.

I shout “i won the race! i won the race!”

When i go to put my name down for the placings, the crowd is going wild. the only thing i’m happy about is that it is over - thank goodness.

  1. Well done I liked when you said 1,2,3 Bang! because it started with action. I didn't really get the part when you said "My legs shake like mad."
How did you feel when you finished the race?
